July volunteer of the month - Linda Moncur Anderson, Aberdeenshire
Linda, who lives in Aberdeenshire, has supported Brooke for over 50 years. In that time she has seen the amazing work that the charity has done helping millions of working horses, donkeys and mules.
Linda has led the Aberdeenshire Group, the first Brooke volunteer fundraising group in Scotland, for over twenty years and together they have raised over £140,000 by staging a wide variety of fantastic events including a garden party held in Linda’s garden on Royal Deeside and a Fashion Show in the Ballroom of The Marcliffe Hotel, both of which were attended by Brooke’s President HRH the Duchess of Cornwall.
Other events amongst many over the years have included a charity screening of the film ‘The War Horse’, and a show of the National Theatre ‘War Horse’ puppet Joey at a WW1 Commemoration event at Glen Tanar. We extend our thanks to each and every member of the Aberdeenshire Group, for all that they have done over the last twenty years.
More recently Linda has raised over £3,000 to support Brooke’s work by filming a virtual tour of her natural woodland garden.
Linda says “I have supported Brooke for over 50 years and continue to do so because I love horses and I am inspired by the original story of Dorothy Brooke & what she did to help these amazing animals. It was a tragic story but it began the journey of Brooke which continues to help horses and donkeys to this day.”
We are incredibly grateful to Linda for her dedication and loyal support over the last fifty years, and for all that she has done to further Brooke’s work to make the millions of working equines who Brooke supports have a life worth living.
