Volunteer for Brooke

Brooke's wonderful volunteers raise a huge amount of money. Join them today to help ease the suffering of the 1.5 million working horses, donkeys and mules we reach in some of the world’s poorest countries.

Would you like to help working horses, donkeys and mules?

We're looking for enthusiastic Brooke supporters, equestrians and animal lovers to either help us out occasionally, or to be more involved and join our local community-based fundraising teams. Our fundraising groups and teams are made up of volunteers who go out - come rain or shine - to raise awareness and funds for us. Whether you can spare a few hours a week, once a week or month, we value your contribution, and if you choose to join a local volunteer group, your local Brooke community team will be grateful for your help and support at their events, collections and many other fundraising activities.

"Supporters are the beating heart of Brooke. From running a marathon to organising cake sales, everything you do enables us to give working horses, donkeys and mules a life worth living. Thank you for everything you do." - Chris Wainwright, CEO

Our volunteer roles allow us to share our passion to help the millions of equines working in unbearable conditions.

Meet Like-minded People

If you choose to help Brooke to fundraise in your local area, or alternatively join a group, being part of the Brooke community is a great way to meet like-minded people, have fun and do your bit to help the working animals who need it most. Together we can make a difference to hard working equines, and you will receive all the support you need from Brooke.

Get inspired by these stories from our wonderful fundraisers:

“I support Brooke because many years ago I lived in a country heavily dependent on horses, mules and donkeys to move people and goods around.

"I was horrified by the sight of undernourished animals carrying heavy loads who were then abandoned when they became ill, injured or old. I pledged that I would help them one day and now, thanks to Brooke, I can.”

- Louise Brown

Vicky Farmer, Brooke volunteer

“I decided to support Brooke when a flyer fell out of my horse magazine showing the plight of the brick kiln donkeys and horses. It made me cry.

"My own horses were pampered and well cared for, and these poor animals needed so much help. I set up a direct debit there and then.

"When I was fortunate to meet up with my local fundraising group, I was more than happy to offer my help with their events. As well as doing talks about Brooke for local groups and societies. That was over 20 years ago and the rest is history as they say.”

- Vicky Farmer

Become A Volunteer Speaker

Volunteer speakers are the voice of Brooke throughout the UK. They help raise vital awareness by giving talks about how we work to organisations, groups and schools. Talks are given to groups of 5-10 and sometimes at larger events and cheque presentations from fundraisers – which are always lots of fun.

Help spread the word

Could you give a talk on behalf of Brooke and educate your community about our work?

We need even more people to help raise our profile across the UK, and tell as many people as possible about the amazing work our teams overseas do to help improve the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules.

Once you’ve registered your interest to become a Volunteer Speaker your local Community Fundraising Officer will be in touch to discuss the role in more detail with you and guide and support you all the way.
