Her Majesty The Queen extends presidency of Brooke

Her Majesty with Alfie and Lala at Buckingham Palace, 9 May 2024.

Brooke is honoured to announce Her Majesty The Queen has officially extended her 18-year Presidency of Brooke today, after a review of over 1,000 royal patronages and presidencies by the palace.

The Queen is a strong supporter of equine welfare, travelling to countries including India, Pakistan and Egypt to see Brooke’s work and hosting a Buckingham Palace reception to mark the charity’s 90th anniversary last Thursday.

The Queen visited Brooke in Kenya, October 2023.

"I’d like to thank Her Majesty The Queen for her lifelong dedication to equine welfare and her commitment to Brooke as President.

“Everyone at Brooke is and will always be driven by our passion for animal welfare, and we’re extremely privileged to have royal support as we approach 100 years of transformational change.”

Chris Wainwright, Chief Executive of Brooke

Her Majesty joined Brooke's other furry mascots at the charity's carol concert, 2018.

Brooke is thrilled Her Majesty will continue to support the lives of brave working animals around the world, and the people that depend on them.

The royal family will continue its affiliation with more than 800 charities, to mark the first anniversary of His Majesty The King’s coronation.

Her Majesty has met many of Brooke's supporters over the years.

Brooke Action for Working Horses and Donkeys was founded in 1934 by Dorothy Brooke, reaching 1.4 million working horses, donkeys and mules through advocacy across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Brooke also reaches 4.2 million animals through it's advocacy work.
