Elise Pilkington Trust donates £40,000 to Global Farriery Project

20 year-long Brooke supporter, The Elise Pilkington Charitable Trust (EPCT), has donated £40,000 to Brooke’s Global Farriery Project as part of a two-year investment agreement.

The latest donation will help Brooke’s vision for farriery to become a recognised, respected and regulated profession worldwide, particularly in low and middle income countries.

Nick Smith, Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships manager at Brooke, said:

“The EPCT is a hugely valued organisation who have funded a number of essential Brooke services over two decades, creating real and tangible change to the lives of working equines.

“They have now decided to join us on this journey towards transformative change in the farriery industry, as part of their vision to relieve the suffering of working animals.

“We are hugely grateful to them and others who have also funded this service!”

In a recent study, Brooke found 100% of working equines inspected suffered from lameness in India and Pakistan, which it hopes to transform through animal welfare improvements and positively impacting equine-owning communities.

Established in 1979, the UK-based EPCT aims to protect equines from suffering and distress, raising over £1m for equine charities in the last 10 years.
